TRAINING
To be able to register for
the Diploma in Hearing Aid Acoustics, you need a high school senior certificate
(grade 12), plus 3 years post-matric qualification with supplementary health
care or education. For those who wish to receive advanced training in the
dispensing of hearing aids.
The University of Pretoria
will interview each applicant and only on approval will he/she be allowed to
register. The aim of the Diploma is to equip individuals to:
► Select, fit, adjust and
repair hearing aids
► Take ear mould
impressions and manufacture ear moulds
► Conduct pure tone
tests, air conduction and bone conduction, as well as
speech hearing tests
for the purpose of fitting a hearing aid
► Evaluate hearing aid
fittings by means of measurements in the ear
► Instruct a patient in
the use and maintenance of a hearing aid.
